Tivesse eu lido esse livro quando tinha 15 anos, eu teria certeza de que se tratava de um sinal do universo. Vi muito do que eu era aqui, e um pouco do que ainda sou (infelizmente). Eu teria gostado bastante dele, mas talvez não tivesse paciência pra terminar. Mas mesmo hoje eu gostei, porque é bem reflexivo e pude perceber por experiência própria como Goethe é um ótimo escritor. Mas sei que ainda tenho que aprender muito sobre Werther e principalmente sobre Goethe, porque tive a sensação de estar apenas flutuando num oceano que é a obra dele (tipo aquelas fotos de um iceberg escrito A Internet Normal/Deep Web)

3.5 stars. Some beautiful poetry and a captivating story. Now I know why everyone is averse to whiney lovesick boys.

I hated this book. I hated the protagonist. He enjoyed being miserable, he marveled at being unhappy putting his sorrow on a pedestal. The woman he was in love with never gave any indication there is a chance for something to happen between them and I doubt Werther needed it - he just wanted an object to long for desperately. My frustration with his whining and self-absorbed personality aside, the entire book felt dated. The ideas on love and life in general the main character expressed were like that one song you've heard so many times before you can't listen to it anymore.
