I read this in three days and as a depressed individual, a lot of my reading was spent highlighting at least once a page going "big mood." Lots of edgy meme content. It was quite satisfying feeling understood by another individual in the earlier parts of the book. The later parts he gets really lovesick though and I just didn't really understand why? And so that took away some enjoyment, but as a case study of "nice guy" syndrome and the perception of someone with depression, it's pretty good.
The Werther Effect is scary as hell though, and so don't read this lightly/in one or two sittings if you are in a vulnerable population.

Werther’s love is both ludicrous and magnificent, his sufferings both ego-centric idiocy and intensely painful and his suicide is both glorious and sordid. It is sentimental stretched to the sublime.
I found the book a memorable experience, but like the sand that Lotte kept slipping into her letters, not without irritation.
