This story is about Inspector Alan Grant who is laid up in the hospital with a broken leg. During his boredom, he discovers Richard III and become fascinated with his story. He sets out to find out the truth about him. Did he really kill his two nephews to secure the crown? Or was he framed? Alan sets out to find out the truth of who really killed the two princes in the tower.
This book was boring and stupid. It was listed as one of the "greatest mystery novels of all time" but I did not like it. There was too much chatter and it just droned on. You had to be a true historian to understand this book and follow the author's ramblings. Just....blech.
I don't recommend. I don't even have a lot to say about it. I was disappointed and was hoping it was going to be so much better than it was.

It's brilliant. Inspector Alan Grant is fuming during a long hospital stay, and his friend Marta Hallard brings him some portraits to study, and one draws his attention. It's Richard III, and Grant is so intrigued by the portrait that he begins an in-depth study of this monarch and the events of his reign. Beautifully written and a fascinating plot. I adore this book

The Daughter of Time je docela krátká detektivka - oceňuji právě kompaktnost vyprávění, je to svižné, polopatické, nenáročné. Po trošku nezáživnějším začátku - jedná se o již několikátý díl série, takže se postupně ukazují postavy, které asi hrály roli v předchozích románech - se dostává do středu zájmu hlavního hrdiny historická postava Richarda III. a slavně neslavná vražda jeho synovců. Postupně odkrývá na základě dostupných zdrojů, že jak okolnosti tak ani motivy zúčastněných nenasvědčují tomu, že se děje odehrály tak, jak je popisují historici i moderní učebnice. Celé vyprávění je dobrým příkladem toho, jak dějiny píší vítězové. Je pochopitelné, že Jindřich VII. má zájem na tom, aby jeho předchůdce, poslední král z rodu Plantagenetů, byl vykreslen jako zrůda a tyran. Přitom na zmizení obou chlapců měl největší zájem a nejvíce jím získal právě on... Je snadné vidět moderní paralely s různými mediálně zveličenými situacemi.
