Typical page-turning story telling by Grisham. Tjis tmely story was a great way to kick off my vacation reading.
This book started out slow but got better as it went along. I have read all 3 of the Camino books and found the 1st one the best
Definitely the best of the Camino Island series. The others weren’t bad, I enjoyed reading them — but this one was just so much better.
I think you could read this as a stand-alone. You won’t know all of the backstory of the characters but it provides a little of that, and you don’t really need it to enjoy the story.

Thank you to Doubleday Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC!
I read both [b:Camino Island|34121119|Camino Island (Camino Island, #1)|John Grisham|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1488922876l/34121119._SY75_.jpg|55155150] and [b:Camino Winds|49123131|Camino Winds (Camino Island, #2)|John Grisham|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580242935l/49123131._SY75_.jpg|74404361] when they first came out and loved both so I was very interested to see what a third book in the series would be like. I loved the concept of Camino Ghosts and found the switch between current day and the viewpoint of Nalla in the past was well done. I completely fell for Lovely and so enjoyed her relationship with the other characters. I felt that Grisham did a great job of including all of our favorite characters from the other "Camino" books while also providing a whole new story. I did find portions of the ending to be slightly predictable, but still very enjoyable. The ending brought a tear to my eye as I had truly become quite attached to this book's characters. A highly enjoyable legal mystery with excellent touches of history. Would recommend!

I like John Grisham as a writer very much and have read most of his books. This one I found disappointing. A pleasant read with an interesting basic premise. However, I found the storyline lazy and predictable. So much so that I wondered if it was actually written by him?
I've never read a John Grisham book that I didn't fly through. I couldn't put this book down. This book started out fast and just continued with the fast pace and had me intrigued with his typical legal thriller.
I appreciated the backdrop of this story and dealing with books, collecting books, and the book heists. Thieves find out about Princeton's vault, which contains F Scott Fitzgerald scripts. Two men are caught in the heist.
Cut to Camino Island,in Florida, to where Bruce's bookstore is. When you have a bookstore, it requires having books, of course. Bruce, well, Bruce doesn't always do his transactions on acquiring them by the book.
The back and forth had me guessing up until the very end

Good representation of the drama and hardship African’s experienced being captured and sold as slaves in America. However, this group was shipwrecked and lived in a barrier island off of Florida with other runaways and shipwrecked Africans.
300 years go by and a powerful building conglomerate wants to buy the island from Florida, but the last living descendant of that island stands in their way.

Great story - good bit of fictionalized history - he is a GREAT STORY TELLER!
