Camino Ghosts

John Grisham

3.83 AVERAGE

Most of the cast of characters from the previous two novels return, along with a couple of new ones, for a story that is slight and predictable. If you’ve invested in the characters, you’ll have fun reading this. But buyer beware: this one is less inspired. It’s Grisham-by-the-numbers, and it may very well be the death of this franchise.

I’ve read nearly everything Grisham has written and I personally don’t feel this is up to his normal quality. While I really enjoyed the story and the characters, it left me wanting more drama. I would love to see a Camino book that compares with the original, but I have so far been disappointed.

This is different from a typical Grisham story, but has a unique cast of characters, with an interesting plot, and a historical context that together make this an entertaining, enjoyable, and refreshing read.

A seriously gorgeous book. Absolutely amazing. Lovely Jackson as narrated by Whoopi Goldberg is a character I will not easily forget. Told with such loving and tenderness, it’s just different that typical Grisham.
