This is easy beach-reading, something to pass the time. The ending was dissatisfying, mainly because there was no drama. The characters' issues were fixed in a single encounter and there was no indication that any thoughtful insight had been done to achieve the return of the twins' relationship. Neither twin was particularly admirable. It was barely conceivable how Harper could be such a natural caregiver to others when she barely had the ability to take care of herself. As for Tabitha, she was cold although I did give her some concessions since she had lost a child. Eleanor - well, she was the least developed character of all even though her story could have been fascinating if the author had chosen to make it more fulsome. Ainsley was the most introspective character of them all. Unfortunately, as she matured in the story, she became boring and the author allowed her story to trail into nothingness as the tale progressed. As a reader, I was struck by how all the main female characters - so deeply imperfect, frequently thoughtless, & supremely callous - could all find multiple men who were completely and utterly devoted to them. (For her part, Ainsley only found one such man so he had to break up with her and then beg for her to return to him.) From that perspective, I had not trouble believing that this book truly was a work of fiction!

Headed on a vacay and need a fun read? Pick up a novel by Elin Hilderbrand and you're sure to be entertained....

Compared to other EH novels I have read, this one just didn't hit the mark....it was just too, something...

Harper & Tabitha are twin sisters, estranged for 14 years, living on Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket - respectively...

Tabitha's 16 year old daughter, Ainsley, is a wild child in need of consistency and actual parenting. How is it even possible she doesn't know what Rock, Paper, Scissors is?

I'll definitely read another EH title. I just found the "soap opera" quality of this novel a bit tedious at times.
hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

Eh. Obviously a beach read so didn’t have high expectations. Sort of like a soap opera, lots happening quickly but nothing of real value or that will stay with me. It did hold my interest and went thru it fairly quickly though.

Entertaining story and a fun quick read for a vacation, especially a vacation in Nantucket!

Very fun to read about Nantucket and Martha's vineyard

The characters in this books breaks just about every moral rule. Is it possible that there are adults and children who behave in this manner? At least there was no murder.
Adultery
Teenage sex
Drugs and alcohol (by teens and adults)
Shoplifting
Framing a student
Drinking alcohol while pregnant

If you enjoy family dysfunction and characters that are flawed, but you can still root for, then you will enjoy this book. I choose to read this one on audiobook. This one was very enjoyable to listen to.
