I would give this 10 stars if I could! Big loves. I didn’t think this would be better than the first book, Belladonna, but it absolutely positively was!! 10/10

This is a great sequel to the Belladonna, with a few twists that I didn’t suspect. Character development and discovery was present throughout, allowing us as readers to form bonds and strong feelings of like and dislike as the story evolved.

Foxglove picked up right where Belladonna concluded with Signa’s uncle falsely accused of murder and Signa herself poised to unravel another muster at Thorn Grove. This time she has the help of her cousin Blythe and hindrance of Fate who is determined to distort her relationship with his own brother, Death.

While I enjoyed the continuation of Signa and Death’s romance what particularly stood out for me was Blythe moving in to centre stage in all of her fully recovered snarky glory.

While we had witness’s hints if this in book one, she had be somewhat constrained by her physical condition. I can’t wait for book three, Wisteria. I am anticipating a delicious banter filled forced proximity enemies to lovers!

The first book of this series was a surprise to me, so I went into this book, very hesitantly, because it’s the second book of the series, and sometimes they can be boring. But this one did not disappoint!

There is a new mystery for Signa to solve in order to save her uncle, and she is going to do everything in her power to do so. There’s some new magic involved, changing relationships, and new characters which which makes this installments so fun to read.

We learn a little bit more about Signa in this book which I enjoyed. There were a lot of challenges that she had to face and tests that she had to overcome. I really enjoyed her relationship with Death develop in this book. I loved that they were in, however, I wish that we got to see a little more of them. Nonetheless, every romance scene that they had was spoon worthy and I loved it.

Blythe surprisingly has a much bigger role in this book that I did not expect. She has her own perspective and I’m not not gonna lie in the beginning I was not a huge fan of it. But her character grows a lot in this book and by the end of it I really appreciate it her point of view.

There is a new character player in this series, and he is probably my favourite edition of this book. He is your definition of a morally gray character, and there are moments I hate them and moments I love him. I am very intrigued to see his character growth in the next book.

Overall, I devoured this book. I loved every minute of it and even though I wanted more, it did not taint my enjoyment of the book. Although a lot of the plot points, and the ending, felt obvious and predictable, there were lots of surprises that kept me on the edge of my seat. I am excited to see where the next book is going to go. The author has set up the series in a way that I have a feeling. The next book is going to feel like a brand new series and I cannot wait.

OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE the characters, the book, the story line EVERY.THING. Like DEATH AND SIGNA sdfajfenfkfnafn I LOVE THEM SO MUCH and they make me so happy and they're so happy!! Also I somehow did NOT think of the ending although it was low key obvious but I was so devastated by Death and Signa that I did not notice! Idk if it was shown in the tapestries but also they already had the connection at the statue like OMG it was so obvious but I was too into it to tell. I literally CAN'T WAIT for Wisteria to come out like AHHHHHH! Fate was kind of a jerk in here but I guess we'll see what happens to him in the next book :) I really liked how the story played out in the end, like how everything unfolded, the murderer was quite unexpected and the reason behind it, I was sad for what happened and also the clues we saw earlier all made sense at the end. I was so immersed into the story and the characters and I'm glad that Blythe and Signa made it through to the end :) I really liked seeing the ghosts in Foxglove and their different stories I think they, especially Amira, helped Signa a lot with her loneliness when she couldn't see Death.

today i am: missing belladonna :(

Belladonna was one of my fav 2022 reads and I'm so disappointed to say that the sequel just didn't hold up.

Whereas Belladona was Death & Signa's story with a side of murder & mischief, Foxglove was murder & mischief with a side of Signa and a few too little scenes of Death.

I think I'm not alone in saying that their relationship was one of the best parts of the first book, though! And I really spent too much time with Foxglove where I was just waiting for Death to show up again...

Signa returns to her old home, Foxglove (duh), in this sequel. There's loads of back story and soo many descriptions of this house and now, looking back, it was all very nice but also didn't really add that much to the story.

We do get a new addition to our cast, Fate, and from the get-go I just couldn't really care about him. I've read so many iterations of this man in the last years (other reviewers have rightfully brought up Caraval...), I'm tired, okay??

As much as we all despise love triangles, I think the worst ones are when it's just not a triangle at all, it's a freaking line with some random other guy going "but what about me 😭😭" in the distance. Signa couldn't give any fucks about Fate and neither could I. For me, it was obvious from the start that he was
probably going to end up with Blythe in the end, so the love triangle part was just unnecessary.

I did like the "Life" storyline and though I was on the right path from the start, the author managed to make me doubt myself and start to make up other theories, so well done on that part! I wish we could've spent more time on Signa's powers in this part, there's still so much we don't know about!

What the author couldn't trick me about was
the oath part 😤 I've read enough Fae novels Ms. Grace!! I saw what you were doing there!!

Gotta say, I don't know if I'm just not as "in" the YA scene anymore as I once was, but from an editorial standpoint, it's just so...weird to completely change main characters (and thus main relationships!) mid-trilogy? Blythe is a nice enough character and I really enjoyed her in the more sidekick role we got of her at the beginning of Foxglove but with her and
Fate
now as the mains of Wisteria, I'm just really not excited for it :(

At the end I was slightly scared we weren't going to get a Death and Signa HEA, so I was very happy with what we did get but it was still so little!

I'm not saying that this book was particularly bad, it was a nice enough read but for me it was just a let down. I think it really hinges on how much you loved Blythe in the first book!

I also just wanted more Death and Signa content and I'm not afraid to admit that.
