Wasn't as good as 'The Dirt' but it was interesting to see the paranoia of a drug addict written down. Amazing he is still alive and clean and I liked the ending summary. Anyone considering taking drugs should read it.

Hey y'all. Did you know Nikki Sixx, of hair metal band Motley Crue (insert umlauts as motivation inspires), was like totally badass and hardcore and stuff? And he was a total drug addict and asshole and generally horrible person? He wrote a diary all about it. But unlike every other rock'n'roll addict memoir out there, Sixx's has no discernable trajectory. It's just 400 "pages" of something that purports to be his diary but is probably just the ghost-writer's attempts at narrative while Sixx menaces him, "I said MORE BADASS!"

I'll give it what other addiction memoirs don't always have: at least it feels genuine.

There were a few (and far between) points that really resonated with me as someone off my drug of choice nearly as long as Sixx was when the book was first published, but the introduction set itself up with
the premise that complete abstinence is the only real solution for real addicts,
and that's an AA talking point that
  1. has a tendency to lose me immediately
  2. encourages dangerous groupthink
  3. makes you feel better, but isn't based in science
  4. broadcast the high-and-mighty, "I'm better now and I was only an asshole because of drugs," tone of present-day Sixx really effectively

I loved the format of having varied and sometimes dissenting voices responding to both present-and-past Nikki. Without that, I probably would have DNF'd, because wow, the only reason I was rooting for him was because I knew his struggle.

I am not great fan of rock n roll or any kind of music due to my DEAF. However, I enjoyed reading the biography and this one really gave me creep and made my skin crawling... Heartbreaking!

This is an informative and heartbreaking look at a year in the life of an addict. It is pretty intense the level of loss of control that Sixx went through. It should encourage anyone who reads it to stay away from drugs.

This made quite an impression on me. I was drawn right in from the start, could hardly put it down, and when I did I would still think of it.

how this man isnt dead is beyond me. It was a fun read with lots of infomation. He went though hell most he done to himself. The misery and punishment he also did to himself with all the drug use. Also peope will be offend by some of the comments made that will be frowned upon but remember it was in the 1980's.
