Bit long innit

The best thing about giving this book 5 stars is that it will piss off all the HATERS - many of which are reviewing the book WITHOUT READING IT. What a sad thing it is to be so invested in the anti-narrative of someone else’s life that you think it matters to anyone whether you read this or not.

For those considering it, I’m not a fan of autobiographical writing. I’m deeply skeptical and easily bored. But this had a great narrative arc, an interesting and unusual point of view and I love a good dystopia. And what could be more dystopian than a prince exiled by … just read it. It’s good. It didn’t make me any more curious about the royal family than I was before but it did make me actively compassionate for royals. It sounds like a uniquely awful way to live.

For those who want to compare Harry and Megan’s suffering to other more dire suffering… here’s a revelation… all suffering is real. All suffering deserves compassion. If you can’t agree with that, why even read at all?

Couldn’t finish it, it was so needlessly long and boring.

Wow

DID NOT FINISH: 30%

This was a highly anticipated read for me but it didn't live up to expectations. The parts I did read just felt like a long, drawn out whinge fest.

Clearly this book is full of inaccuracies and errors. It’s not a piece of literature. It’s not an inspiring biography.

But it’s very easy to listen to and I got exactly what I expected to get.
