Loved!!! Convinced I would read a grocery list by Rebecca Ross. Loved more than the first, RR is the queen of duologies in my mind. I loved Jack & Adaira, but  Sidra & Torin we’re my fave. Their love evolving over the two books was so beautiful to watch.

“I want to write a ballad with you, not in notes but in our choices, in the simplicity and routine of our life together. In waking up at your side every sunrise and falling asleep entwined with you every sun-set. In kneeling beside you in the kail yard and leading a clan and overseeing trade and eating at our parents' tables. In making mistakes, because I know that I'll make them, and then restitution, because I'm better than I once ever hoped to be when I'm with you."

"I think that I want to make such music with you until my last day when the isle takes my bones. I think that you are the song I was longing for, waiting for. And I will always be thankful that you returned to me."

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am sad we didn’t get a jack & frae reunion.

My ONLY real criticism is I wish RR would stop saying that words or food “tasted like ash” 10 times in each of her books lol

I thought the pacing of this was a bit weird--the beginning was slow to build up, and the end felt like there were two endings (or something like an ending plus epilogue). Overall, I still enjoyed the story and how this duology concluded.

A great conclusion to the duology; I enjoyed this book more than the first one. The pacing is slow but it built so much tension that way and left me eager to find out how it all concludes. I think Rebecca Ross did a fantastic job formulating this novel and making all the separate arcs/characters come together. I especially enjoyed the journey that Torin had to take and the way him and Sidra had to step into the other's role. And while I didn't care for the romance between Jack and Adaira, I loved seeing them reunite again. I'm glad to have gotten to read these two books.
