I read this about 4 years ago for one of my english classes. I reread Oedipus Rex and Antigone this year to learn some monologues. It is still a fantastic read if you love classical Greek drama.

Overall it was pretty interesting. The themes were reused throughout the different plays, but if you have something good don't waste it ie. a theme. I really enjoyed Antigone over the other plays in the trilogy. I find it interesting how this was considered a comedy play because it was about a female lead but hey, when in Rome. Basically fate could have been avoided if Oedipus had just never slept with a woman and never killed a man. Along with that if the King had just showed some compassion there would have been a whole lot less death. But overall enjoyed the trilogy very much, I always love mythology.

As much as I really enjoyed reading this, I am so glad it's over! I haven't let myself pick up another book because I wasn't done with this for my class yet. Overall, it was interesting reading The Theban Plays. The one that stands out most to me is probably King Oedipus. The plot twist really caught me off guard because I really wasn't paying attention well enough, I think if I had put 2 and 2 together it probably wouldn't have affected me the way it did. But I liked the effect it had on me, it had really drawn me into the story. I suffered through Oedipus at Colonus for some reason. I mean it was interesting and totally had my attention but took much longer for me to read than I expected. Antigone was good as well but still not my favorite out of the three.
