This is a great translation (Robert Fagles) that I would highly recommend because the language is so easy to follow.
Most of you have probably read this story at some point during high school and I think most people know what it is about, so not much to say there, but I found a much faster and more entertaining read, rather that the dreary classic literature I expected. (Sorry I have a prejudice against anything that has ever been called a classic)
I read this for class, so I didn't read this for fun, and I don't know if I would have if it hadn't been assigned, but it is definitely an interesting exploration of fate, and the negative side of knowledge.

good, i liked reading the desperation felt over a faith you cannot control. i liked antigone but even so creon too. i felt like all the characters had reasons for behaving as they did which made it good. the last play felt a little incomplete compared to the others, just as the translation said it most likely was but from it i still loved quite a few excerpts:
“What’s the joy of it? Who wants your kindness now? Just imagine, Creon, someone giving you nothing, refusing every help, and you craving it so—but then, when your heart’s desire was sated, then he gave you all, when the favor was no favor any more. Look at me, Creon: wouldn’t you find that pleasure empty—ashes? That’s precisely how your offers strike me now: your words like honey—your actions, drawn swords.”
poor oedipus, and the disgust people feel when hearing his name.
