Not something I'd like to reread, but I have to admit I enjoyed reading it once. It helped that I learned about the historical background before I read it.

This book has the three plays in the order they were written, but the story really is Oedipus the king first and Antigone last. Greek tragedies are quite bloodcudlingly gruesome… but I thought Antigone was BRILLIANT and Oedipus the king even more so, in fact it is amongst my favourite reads ever. Easy to read and gripping. Oedipus at Colonus was boring tho. I bet these plays were incredible when they were first performed. I’d love to see one.
As with these stories from so long ago… all trigger warnings apply!
