Another great companion for my runs! This book features two treasure hunters, Sam and Remi Fargo, who get sucked into an adventure when they spot a friend being taken away. The characters are believable but a bit over the top, which I like. The action carries through the book and includes history, puzzles and riddles in addition to gun-wielding enemies. The relationship between the two principles is both sweet and filled with respect for each other's abilities. They are tough cookies and I loved having them join me on my runs. They got me through some of the tough points I faced.
Cussler's recent best! This co-writer is a step up and I love the new Fargo characters.
It’s fun as far as action adventure goes. And the main characters are likable and relatable.
The book did seem to get a little lost in the weeds at points. Still the ending was fun and fit the story.

Zdaję sobie sprawę, że nie jest to Dirk Pitt więc nie ma co porównywać jednej serii do drugiej, jednak o ile w cyklu o Dirku Pittcie główny bohater był dość ciekawie zarysowany z dość specyficznym poczuciem humoru, to tutaj postać Fargo jest zwyczajnie mdła i papierowa. Dużym plusem są natomiast wplecione w fabułę historyczne fakty, teorie i ciekwostki, co mnie nawet i bardzo zainteresowało, no ale książka raczej nie zapadnie mi w pamięć. Widać też tutaj zupełnie inny styl pisania autora niż w serii o Dirku Pittcie, być może dlatego, że nie jest to samodzielne dzieło autora, tylko pisane do "spółki" z Grantem Blackwoodem.
Kiedyś tam w "zamierzchłych" czasach moje preferencje czytelnicze wyglądały zupełnie inaczej i Cusslera czytało mi się wtedy bardzo dobrze. Jednak na przestrzeni 3 dziesiątek lat stałam się chyba bardziej wybredna i wolę teraz bardziej wymagającą lekturę z tendencją wzrostową w kierunku zupełnie innych gatunków niż kiedyś.
I nie znaczy to wcale, że "Złoto Spartan" jest nijakie. Jest dobre, a nawet bardzo dobre, ale raczej to pozycja dla kogoś, kto nie lubi czytać zbyt skomplikowanych, czy wymagających lektur.

Pretty much typical lost treasure standard fare, nothing much to write about. Characters were bland, repeatedly getting into trouble and making last minute escapes which seemed far fetched even for a Clive Cussler book.
