Pretty standard, not much happens Omegaverse. Not mad I read it but I won't read it again.

The plot was unique, but the grovel was weak, and it was too long. Plus, the real jerks who betray the FMC do not get their comeuppance and that was just unsatisfying.

3/4 of her alphas were great. The grovel wasn't there but it didn't piss me off like the last 2 OMVs I read (both of which were DNFs), so there's that. The storyline was okay. You might really like this one if you're new to OMV, whereas I've read much of this before.

Their little text message performance review for her when she was nervous about her surprise performance review though? Swoooooon. Love that for her.

---

Separate from my review, but this one MMC annoyed me so much that every damn note I took while reading was just his quotes, combined with his inability to comprehend how his actions affected her or why she'd resent him for that and not just immediately fall on his dick 13 or whatever years later, showing he has zero growth in this book. Nothing else, just pure hate for this guy.

(Jordan is the FMC.)

"Eventually, the strain of being without Jordan, who had always anchored us, and not having an Omega caused us to fall apart at the seams."

.....you didn't realize this in the years of very romantically-leaning friendship you had with her???

"She'll scent us and immediately be in our arms and on our knots, dude...What? It's what all Omegas do."

Ickkkkk

"Why do we have to grovel? She's going to be thrilled. She's getting what she always wanted."

🔫🔫🔫

"It was the right idea at the time to cut Jordan loose when we did. She never would have given up on us, and the chance of her presenting as an Omega was basically zero. It's not that she wouldn't have been enough for me as a Beta. Jordan starred in every single one of my fantasies when we were teenagers. She has always been my dream girl. But our pack deserved the chance to find our scent match."

Another page, another episode of 'she's my dream girl in every way but she's not an omega and we deserve an omega...'

"I feel like I'm going to crawl out of my skin lately. I'm not sure if it's the strained pack bond, moving to a new home, or the knowledge that my Omega is out there on her own in the world, but I am always so uncomfortable."

"His omega" is the FMC in her new omega form. She's been "out there on her own in the world" for like 13 years in her beta form, ever since he broke her heart, but because he only has eyes for omegas he suddenly cares about her again.

"I regretted it almost immediately, but I knew it was what was best for her. Loving someone means doing things that are good for them that they may not like. But now all of us know better, and she's punishing us, she's punishing herself, and she's punishing her Alpha by keeping him from his pack. It's selfish. It's immature."

Oh I was wondering when we'd get to the gaslighting portion of the narcissist playbook.

"It's been ages. I'm not saying that's your fault. I know it's mine. But the phone does go-"

If I speak-

"I've got to reorient the way I see all of this because she's doing what it takes to protect her mental health. This isn't something she's doing to me. This is something she's doing for her."

👀 Oh is he going to therapy now or something? Who planted this single considerate thought in his head?

"Stargazer lilies," Cyrus says quietly. "We named the pack after your favorite flower."

Physically yelled at this part. You're telling me these three idiots named their pack after her bc they knew she'd be theirs, then when she didn't present as an omega, they tossed her aside bc they knew deep in their hearts that they'd choose whatever omega they thought they'd find over her when the time came? Modern romance, people. 🤮

"If she loved me as much as I did her she'd be blowing my phone up and I'd be there with her right now."

He still hasn't groveled at this point lol.

"I don't know why it's been so hard for me to connect Omega Jordan with the Jordan from my past. The way Omegas are perceived and treated in society is pervasive, and I seem to have fallen victim to the bias."

He really put her in a box called "Omega" and started treating her like every other omega he'd dated just because she designated at one when he grew up with the woman and should have known her better. Ugh guarantee I would have liked this book without him in it.
