I read Tin Man to achieve my Muggle Studies O.W.L and I absolutely adored it!⁣

This book of less than 200 pages tells such a beautifully heartwarming and equally heartbreaking story about the relationship between Ellis, Michael and Alice, which I absolutely adored. I was blown away with how deeply I cared about these characters in such a short space of time. ⁣

The book is told non chronologically from two perspectives: Ellis’s and Michael’s. Throughout the book we are shown little snippets of how their relationship has developed over the span of over thirty years in such a seamless way that was such a joy to read.⁣

As this is such a short book I think it’s best to go into it knowing as little as possible (which is what I did), and let yourself get swept away with Sarah Winman’s writing.⁣

Ugh! This story follows Ellis, Michael, and Annie. It’s a story of love in multiple iterations. We get to look at the same story from both Ellis and Michael’s perspective as they discover love at a young age and then fall away from each other leading different lives. Lives that could have been much more intertwined. It’s a story of love, loss, friendship, and heartbreak. It is slightly reminiscent of My Policeman, and it also touches on the way the AIDS epidemic ravaged the gay community. Beautiful story all around, I devoured it.
