I had high expectations for this book. Elsie has become one of my solid go-to authors for a typical 4-5 star read. This book unfortunately missed the mark and did not give what it was trying to give. I got whiplash trying to understand whether Rosie and Ford liked or hated each other because I feel like it changed every other page. I’m hopeful for the rest of the series, hopefully it gets better from this train wreck!!!

Potentially the easiest 5⭐️ I’ve ever given to a romance book. I couldn’t put this down and finished it in just over 24 hours.
Rosie and Ford have the most delightful banter and their connection feels very real. I definitely loved how Cora was written in and her role in the plot as well.

Hmmm…. I have mixed feelings on this book.
After the Chestnut Springs series, I expected a it from this new series, but many that was me setting myself up for disappointment.
This story just feels so….unoriginal.
This feels like the lovechild of Flawless and 50 Shades of Grey, with a side chick of Ross and Rachel seasons one and two. I feel like I can tell EXACTLY where inspiration was drawn from.
The emailing back and forth, the billionaire boss/employee power dynamic, the need for “control” and the “I know she’s going to be my wife”
I found myself caught up in the writing, the plot line from an analytical standpoint, and the characters from a standpoint of the author rather than being caught up in the story and characters themselves. There are parts that contradict themselves, typos, and a lot of back and forth without much show or tell from the author, just the characters doing things for convenience of the plot and not true to who they are.
This book could have used another round of edits for sure.
With all that said, I did enjoy parts of this book. The banter, while not original, is funny, and the relationship between them is sweet. Total “He’s her lobster” vibes
3.5/5

It look a little bit to get me hooked but I enjoyed the story and the characters.
I like the vibe and am excited to see if I fall in love with other characters of hers more.
