This was such a great read. A sweet, feel good story and it just made me happy! It was funny and heartfelt with likable characters that had a wonderful connection.
I got a good feel for the story right away and liked both Lily and Aidan immediately. I liked that push and pull they had on each other, it made for some really nice chemistry. There was a wonderful build to their relationship and I enjoyed how it all played out. They are both such sweet people that love and care with all their hearts but they are also both super stubborn so it made for some entertaining interactions. I loved watching their bickering stumble over into more heated times.
Aidain's family was great! I loved their interactions and good natured ribbing. They made me smile. They have a sad back story but I loved how they came together and formed their family unit and were so full of unconditional love. They gave me a few great laugh out loud moments. I also really liked Lily’s friend Jonathan, he provided some funny moments as well.
I thought this story had a steady pace with really good development. I felt it was a light read, not to intense but sweet with bits of emotion and super entertaining. It's definitely a feel good story that leaves you smiling at the end.

Cedar Ridge, Colorado is where firefighter Aiden Kincaid has always lived and helped to run the family resort. And then there is hairstylist Lilly Danville who is returning home after 10 years of being away from the only place she’s ever called home, yet the only place that holds her deepest fears, regrets, and sadness. Their stories intertwine in the most interesting of ways to make this a quick and fun read!
My review cross-posted from Wit and Sin: http://witandsin.blogspot.com/2015/06/review-second-chance-summer-by-jill.html
Get ready to fall in love with the Kincaid family! Jill Shalvis’s Second Chance Summer is sensual, fun, and will leave you salivating for the next Cedar Ridge story.
Aidan is a firefighter, works Search and Rescue, and also helps manage his family’s resort. The man is sexy as hell and a rescuer through and through. He’s also completely head-over-heels for Lily, and has been for years. She’s the one woman he could never forget and now that she’s back in town, he’s not about to let her slip through his fingers a second time. Lily is far more gun-shy than Aidan. Tragedy made her flee Cedar Ridge years ago and she only plans to come back until she can find a job elsewhere. Falling for Aidan – again – is not something she wants, but it’s inevitable. The two of them have fantastic chemistry and it’s easy to see that they’re made for each other. Their love story has all the heat, humor, and heart I’ve come to expect from Ms. Shalvis’s romances and I can’t count the number of times Lily and Aidan made me smile. Their pasts have done a number on them, but watching them heal as they fall in love is part of what makes Second Chance Summer so engaging.
Romance aside, the entire Kincaid crew will grab your heart and make you want to move to Cedar Ridge. Aidan and his siblings bicker and tease, and their hijinks are sure to make readers laugh. But most importantly, every single one of them has the others’ backs, and the love they all have for each other is one of the highlights of Second Chance Summer. There’s a lot to love about Ms. Shalvis’s new world of Cedar Ridge, and I know I’ll be revisiting Aidan and Lily multiple times as I await Hudson Kincaid’s book, My Kind of Wonderful.

I always love Jill Shalvis books! They are always cute with funny lovable characters!
Of course this was no exception and I can't wait to pick up the next book in the series.

Lily has come back to her home town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado after being the scapegoat of a scandal at her salon. She hasn't been back since her sister died 10 years ago trying to make a climb that she wasn't proficient enough for and Lily has felt guilty ever since. As soon as she's back in town, she runs into Aiden. Right before her sister's death, she had one sizzling kiss with Aiden before her sister soon tells her that she's into him and thinks he's into her too. So Lily backs off.
This book was ridiculous. Aiden wouldn't take no for an answer on anything and it was infuriating. Lily feels responsible for her sister's fall, even though it was the sister's fault for being an idiot. Nothing here makes much sense and I didn't like any of the characters. Ug.

Jill Shalvis has done it again! This book has everything: action, humor, romance, and family. I love Aiden and his brothers Gray and Hudson. I am totally hooked on their quirky relationship and slightly warped, male sense of humor.
After 10 years of hiding from her family and the past Lilly has finally come back to the mountains to face her demons and runs smack into the guy she left behind. Sexy firefighter Aiden has a serious thing for this damsel in distress, will he be able to save her or will he lose his heart in the process?

I love Jill Shalvis', Lucky Harbor series. When I found out she was writing another series that takes place in the mountains of Colorado, I was so excited!! I couldn't wait to meet her new cast of characters.
One of my favorite things about Shalvis' books are her characters and how real, relatable, and endearing they are. They never fail to make me smile or laugh, and this author has an awesome sense of humor! I was happy to find that Aidan and the rest of the Kincaid family did not fail me. I loved how close they were. Even though they had their fights and squabbles, they still remained a tight knit unit and looked out for each other. I got a chuckle out of their dialogues and the stunts they'd make each other do.
I wasn't sure what to think of Lily. I think I would have liked to have learned how she picked up the pieces, once she moved to San Diego ten years ago. I also had a hard time understanding why she would close herself off as much as she did. I could sort of understand, but to be honest, it didn't really make sense to me. I felt like I didn't really know much about her relationship with Aidan ten or so years ago. I couldn't figure out if they had just started dating or if they had been a couple for awhile, before she had left. I know that they were friends and maybe a little more, but I didn't really understand the depth of their relationship back then. I would have liked a little more of a back story, where they were concerned. Therefore, I was a little confused by the feelings that she and Aidan had ten years later.
One of the things I really enjoyed was learning about the lives of fire fighters and rescue workers. They work tirelessly and risk so much to help society. I really had to admire Aidan and Mitch for their courage and commitment. Even when they were sleep deprived, they were still ready for the next mission, and went into it with a willing heart and with a great attitude.
I did give Second Chance Summer 3 Stars. It just wasn't as fast-paced as I would have liked and it seemed liked the book was longer than it really needed to be. I often found my mind wandering and found myself skimming some parts. With that said, I am still looking forward to the next book in the Cedar Ridge series- My Kind of Wonderful, where we get Hudson's story!

i've always loved how Ms Shalvis writes family relationships. this one doesn't disappoint either. i really love the Kincaids, dysfunctional as they are. and i love love love all the banter and witty dialogues. this is just classic Jill Shalvis.
Hudson's book next! the little excerpt looks promising.

A cute feel good read that’s also saucy. About facing your grief and falling in love. One of my favorites of this authors for sure.

Cedar Ridge is the last place that Lily Danville wants to be, but she has little options. With being terminated from her job just to save face, her friend convinces her to return to Cedar Ridge, and since he has a job for her she knows that she will need to, especially with her savings almost depleted and no one willing to hire her due to the scandal. And one of the first people that she runs into on her way back, is none other than Aiden Kinkaid, firefighter extraordinaire and the man she once fell in love with. Lily Danville is shocked to see him again, and as she starts to settle in at Cedar Ridge, she keeps running into this sexy man she can't seem to get out of her mind or her libido. But Lily has unresolved issues she has to get through first before she can ever think about reconnecting with him again. Because her sister was killed ten years ago while on a climb and wanted Aiden. Lily, still not past her sisters death, is having a hard time letting go of the past to embrace the present.
In Second Chance Summer, we are introduced to Cedar Ridge Colorado and the fun and sexy Kincaid family. Now also this was my first Jill Shalvis book and I was highly impressed with this one. Once I started listening, I didn't want to put it down, and in my opinion wasn't long enough to satisfy...I just wanted more of Aiden and Lily and the fun mountain setting we have here. This was such a easy going and heartwarming romance that kept me enthralled. I was in the mood for a story like this, so it was just a perfect read for me. And had enough emotional balance to the story to win me over instantly. The chemistry between Aiden and Lily is explosive, and man Aiden is one sexy beast!!!
I love firefighters (what women doesn't...they always fill shirts out so nicely), but Aiden is altogether different. Aiden is the personality to rescue people in distress, I mean HELLO----its what he does for a living hehe. But he along with his brothers, are working their butts off trying to save their family business that their father ruined with gambling debts. The bond these siblings have is so wonderful and engaging. Their bantering was contagious and I always had a good laugh when they got together.
The romance between Aiden and Lily was quite warm and fun. We see the connection they have together, but what I loved more is seeing it grow through the story. They both get tested in different ways, but it only made their relationship more vital. I had no strong issues with the book overall, although Lily could be a bit over dramatic at times. Its what had me four star this book instead of five star. But even though she wasn't my favorite heroine to read...she definitely grew on me and I really liked her. This was a very refreshing read and I can't wait to dive into more of this author.
I will be honest, I had a hard time with the narration. It was the way this narrator talked. Almost like she was always out of breath or something. I don't know, it took me a while to get used to it.
Man...I LOVE this cover. This male model definitely fills out those clothes so well....can I marry him?? hehe Love the blue sky backdrop with the mountains...boy do I love my Rockies.
Second Chance Summer was a tasteful and highly entertaining romance that sizzles from head to toe!! Quite the Endearing Romance!!

There were some men who just knew how to kiss, the kind of kiss that could send a woman reeling. The kind of kiss that could take away problems and awareness and … and everything. The kind of kiss that could shatter her into a trillion little pieces. The kind of kiss that somehow both calmed her body and soul even as it wound her up for more. Aidan was that kind of kisser
