A nice fun romance set in the mountains with a definite "rescue" theme. Loved the characters even if they were a bit slow to realize they were meant for each other. I'll definitely check out the next in the series.

I always devour a Jill Shalvis books, and this new series is no different. Great read

Y'all must already know I adore Jill Shalvis. She is a queen of romance - and Second Chance Summer has all her signature traits - great characters that are fun to read of, whether it be the main characters or the supporting cast, funny banter and great small town setting.

That being said, I wasn't as enthralled as I usually am by this novel. I'm not sure what it was really, because it had all those things I normally love about her.

Maybe it was because Lily and Aidan had history together that we didn't really get to see, but effected their current relationship. There was a lot of things they knew about each other that we didn't get to see them find out, and so while logically I knew they had probably learned that ten years ago, in that period we're barely privy to, it also felt like a cope-out. Like, all those wonderful parts of building a relationship were robbed from us.

Maybe it's just me.

This was probably why I felt like the "I love you"s came too early and with little basis. It's because these two characters were in love before, but we didn't get to see it!

While this will not be the first book of Shalvis I recommend someone to read, if you already love her you're bound to enjoy it.

Second Chance Summer starts the new series Cedar Ridge with a bang, or a terrific story which ever way you'd like to think of it. It will leave you wanting the next story.

Aidan is a firefighter, works with Search and Rescue, and helps to manage his family's ski resort. Lily, is gun shy and after a tragedy ran from Cedar Ridge. She was a hair stylist for the rich and famous in Los Angeles, her ex spread rumors about her and caused her to lose her job. She decided to go home until she could find a job elsewhere. Falling for Aidan again is something she wants to avoid, but the second he sees her, both their plans fly out the window. I mean, how can you resist a sexy Search & Rescue alpha man that comes to your rescue after a bunny frightens you and you fall down a few stairs?

The chemistry between these two sizzles and its easy to see they're meant for each other. Second Chance Summer is a perfect example of why Jill Shalvis is one of my favorite authors. The siblings of Cedar Ridge are flawed, have their own problems, but they're family and are always there for each other.

Jill Shalvis has done it again!! I am never let down by this author. Her characters are so real and sincere. They always have normal faults, like getting food on themselves or not saying the right thing at the right time etc. I can always count on Jill Shalvis for a great read. Anytime someone wants a good contemporary romance read I suggest her!!!

You can read the blurb if you want the whole story but let me tell you the ending... on a cliff and a walkie talkie... it was great...

Second Chance Summer was my first Jill Shalvis novel and it was so cute! I fell in love with the town of Cedar Ridge and the Kincaid brothers. The push and pull between Lily and Aiden was fun and I enjoyed rooting for them. It did feel like there was a lot going on with both of their back stories and all the action throughout so I wished it had slowed down a bit and dove deeper into some of those points, but overall I liked it! This one is perfect for a fast, fun summer read.⁣

3.75 stars. a good beginning to a new series, with all the wit and sensuality i expect from a shalvis novel. full review coming to the blog soon.

I love all of Jill Shalvis's books so kind of hard to not like this new series set in the Colorado Rockies. This is small town living with everyone remembering what you did way back in high school no matter how much you wish they would forget those things. And families and first loves.

Pour yourself a cup of hot tea or cider and curl up and watch Aidan and Lily work around old memories and remember that they do love each other.

A brand new series from Jill Shalvis and even though I’ll miss Lucky Harbor I’m very excited for her new series Cedar Ridge based in Cedar Ridge, Colorado. Lily knows that it’s very hard to come home and after tragedy drove her from Cedar Ridge ten years ago, scandal has brought her back. The chance at a job is too good to pass up so Lily is home and attempting to face her demons. Firefighter Aiden was heartbroken when Lily walked out of his life all those years ago but he understood why she left. But now that she’s back he won’t pass up the chance to show her that home is where her heart belongs, and that her heart belongs to him. Some of the same great humor, witty banter, and sexiness that I’ve come to love from Ms. Shalvis. Very excited to continue this series because she’s introduced a great new family. Fun read!
