Lauren Asher is an auto read author for me and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the book.
The initial chapters of the book had me sobbing and lead me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. The dynamic between Rafael and Ellie captured my heart, with their banter that had me cackling out loud and their deep connection pulling at my heartstrings. Nico is a sweetheart and I love him so much.
The cameos in the book brought a smile to my face and filled me with happiness.
While I found certain parts of the book to be a bit lengthy and boring at times, overall, it is a good read that I would highly recommend to others.
So, I just finished Love Unwritten and let me tell you, my emotions were put through the wringer. I don't know if I should thank Lauren or send her my therapy bill! This book had me feeling everything—like, *everything.* The characters were so well-crafted that I swear I could feel their pain, joy, and every heart-fluttering moment in between.
Let’s talk about Ellie, who has instantly rocketed to the top of my list of favorite female characters. This woman is an absolute powerhouse—strong, resilient, and, honestly, a total badass. Plus, she’s got a heart of gold and mad talent, especially when it comes to her relationship with Nico, Rafael’s adorable son. Honestly, her bond with that kid melted my heart faster than ice cream on a summer day.
And then there’s Rafael Lopez. Oh boy, where do I start? He’s basically the human version of a swoon—handsome, kind, and an amazing father who has a soft spot for animals. I mean, come on, a guy who loves animals? That’s practically a cheat code to being irresistible. But Rafael’s got his share of scars—like a tragic backstory that could fill a soap opera. Between a failed marriage and a rough childhood, he’s pretty much emotionally tapped out. Commitment? Not on his radar, especially after his ex-wife ran off with another guy (ouch, right?).
But then Ellie enters the picture. She starts out as Nico’s nanny and music teacher, but before long, she’s woven into the fabric of their lives. And let’s just say, their chemistry isn’t exactly subtle. They try—oh, how they try—to keep things professional, but one vacation later, and all bets are off. It’s like watching two magnets try to stay apart. Spoiler: they totally can’t.

While I’m still processing everything I just read. I have to say, Lauren did it again. I have always loved her books (seeing I collect them all). But this book has touched me in such a way that I could not have imagined. I mean it’s obvious since I devoured this 600+ page book in a little over 24 hours, especially since I haven’t picked up a book and fully read it SINCE Love Redesigned. The angst, the slow burn, the fluff. I found myself smiling at the fluff and banter. The character growth and rawness of both Rafa and Ellie, as well as the overall story was refreshing, touching and engaging. The way Lauren executed the topic of anxiety, depression, abuse, and addictions was beautifully written. She has done a great job of these topics before, but I was even more impressed by this story. As someone who does not pick up single-dad romances often, I was pleasantly surprised to fall in love with Nico and Rafa’s growths father and son. Nico truly brought the story to life. I can proudly admit that this book had me come close to crying, but I still stayed strong. Though having a book touch my heart so much, was truly enjoyable. This book has definitely become one of my favorite by hers. Bravo Lauren, you have made me fall in love with Rafa and Ellie!
I can’t wait to see what’s next!!
