I can't believe this is Allison Gunn’s debut novel. Nowhere is beautifully written, emotionally intense, and genuinely terrifying at times. I actually had to switch to another book while reading it on the treadmill because some scenes creeped me out so much.

The story follows a family still reeling from a devastating loss. As unsettling events begin to unfold around them, the slow burn of dread builds into something much darker and more disturbing. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the suspense had me turning the pages quickly.

Most of the characters were unlikeable, Rachel, the mother, was especially frustrating. Lucy, the youngest daughter, was the only one I truly liked throughout the entire book. I also started to like Finn towards the end.

The scary moments are incredibly well written. Some scenes genuinely gave me chills. Do not read this in the dark on your Kindle. It builds fear gradually, but it really gets under your skin.

This book needs to be made into a movie. The story, the atmosphere, and the emotional weight would translate so well to screen. If you love horror that is smart, tense, and deeply unsettling, this is a must read. Just maybe save it for daylight hours.

I need this as a movie as soon as possible. So creepy, and fast-paced. I absolutely loved it.

DID NOT FINISH

This premise sounded right up my alley, but this book is just too depressing for me and I can't stand any of the characters. I don't always mind unlikeable characters, but I can't stand prickly characters. This book is just people constantly prickling at each other and that is too frustrating to read.

Do yourself a favor and don't read the prologue. It ruins the book. I took .25 stars off for that alone.
