It's smut. It's almost pornographic. I don't have a problem with that. I take issue with nonconsent... That's not BDSM. I'm also kind of bored by the completely human aliens and their society. Also hating the word bottom now. I need more science in my fiction even when it's erotica/romance.
This type of romance novel is generally not my thing. But if you're into M/s porn with an alien bent... then this book is going to be right up your alley.
What a funky little book. It's a space romance, but don't examine the details too hard because it's clearly all just for the convenience of moving (minimal) story along. The romance between the two is unexpectedly gentle for a book that features a ton of spanking, sex toys, and butt stuff. At one point, the heroine finally says something along the lines of "All the sex toys on this planet vibrate!" And the reader wonders how a planet that has created a niche market on remote control vibrating nipple piercings also has no idea how to stop femoral bleeding. Those are the priorities on Planet Butt Stuff, I guess.
I did not enjoy this. I think part of my dislike was the audio version. I typically don't really like audio, no one sounds as they do in my head and I found Eva particularly annoying. Overall, I think I was just bored, even the sex was meh. This just wasn't my jam.
Eva is being sent to another world in a kind of witness protection through inter-stellar brides in order to keep her safe while they prepare for the trial that will put a murderer behind bars. Sadly this means that during this protection she must pretend to be a murderer in order to speed her placement with a mate along. How bad could it be? But when she meets Tark all of her deepest desires are brought to life. Stupid caveman.
This book is an amazing roller-coaster from start to end. You jump right into a hard-core sex scene that is sadly just an erotic in detail dream and it just gets better from there. If you are a fan of a somewhat controlling males who give their females some control but punish when they are bad this is a book for you. Enjoy if you dare!

3.25⭐️ Planet: Trion. So we just hop RIGHT IN with the smexy stuff! Got it. If you like a breeding kink, M/F, light BDSM alien (just very large men from another planet)fated mate, instalove romance, this book will do it for ya.
I really like the world building in this book. It’s really simple and I recommend it for folks who aren’t interested in or used to following vast world building. This book is HIGHLY sexual but still has a plot in such a short novel. I just wish it hadn’t taken so long to get to the plot.
This was a decent low stakes, all vibes read. I’m gonna continue this series for when I need a literary decompression.
I picked this up because it’s the first in the series and I liked the others. I did nit like this one though. Bdsm and sex with someone who says no is rape. Saying I know this is what you want is creepy not sexy. Short and still a DNF.
The sex scenes are pretty much the only point to this. I did not buy the insta-love at all, but it's actually pretty superfluous to the story, or lack thereof. Anything interesting about the system is nixed in favour of shoving as many sex scenes in as possible. At least it's honest about it though, and doesn't try to make itself into something it's not.
If you know me, you know I love books with aliens, arranged marriages, and spice, so this short audiobook really reeled me in. While it was enjoyable, I didn't love it as much as I was expecting.
I would have loved more explicit consent from the FMC - all of a sudden there was spanking going on without any prior discussion, which felt icky to me. And for such a short book, it felt like half of it was taken up with spanking - we get it, she's being "punished", could we move on?
There was also a lack of understanding of each other's cultures - which can be really fun in an alien/human book - but here it just kind of perpetuated the lack of informed consent. I'm not sure I'll be reading the rest of the books in this series unless there has been work done to fix these issues.
POV: dual first person
You can expect: mates, mail-order bride, alien MMC, human FMC, doctor FMC, arranged marriage, witness protection.
Spice: 3/5
CW: dubious consent, improperly handled kink, murder (past)
