What was I reading? Cringy, silly, simple, unbelievable porn for ladies. That's all that it was. If you like that sort of stuff with basically only sex scenes and relatively no plot, with BDSM, forced orgasms, slave/master dynamics, then this is for you. It didn't do anything for me. I was laughing. I mean, don't get me wrong. I knew I would be getting sex scenes and maybe a little kink, but I did expect there to be a plot at least and I thought the romance would be a bigger factor, but it was honestly only "oh you look and feel so perfect, you are my mate and I love you even though I just met you yesterday." Truly. That pretty much sums it up. I hoped there would be some character development in there, but there was none. Just fucking. So... I guess I just didn't know what I was getting myself into. In my innocense I thought that even though this was erotica, that this was a real story, just with sex in it too, but nooooh, it was just porn in words, like those porn movies made by girls for girls. Yay - not. The scenes were too cringy though to be enjoyed
P.S. I listened to the audiobook and the voice actors chosen probably didn't help the book. The lady wasn't so bad. She wasn't great though, just sounded a little to old for her part. The guy, hoever, sounded like a total geek, not the hot, tall and bulky steed that he was made out to be. I was like nooooo when the guy started talking. It was so funny!

Bei der Reihe wurde vom deutschen Verlag zwar die chronologische Reihenfolge übernommen, der erste Band aber leider nicht übersetzt. Deswegen wäre das theoretisch schon Band 3. Ich weiß aber nicht, inwieweit die Teile miteinander verknüpft sind und ob das überhaupt eine Rolle spielt. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich das Buch jetzt nicht so schlecht fand, wie ich es befürchtet hatte. Diese Reihe ist meiner Meinung nach auf jeden Fall um einiges besser als es die ganzen Alien Reihen von Nova Edwins sind. Einen anderen Vergleich habe ich leider nicht. Besonders viel Story oder Tiefe dürft ihr aber auch hier nicht erwarten. Es handelt sich um einen Erotikroman. Ich brauchte diesen Band für eine Challenge, sonst hätte ich die Reihe vermutlich gar nicht erst begonnen. Ich hatte wenig bis gar nichts erwartet, bin daher nun fast schon positiv überrascht. Für zwischendurch finde ich die Bücher ganz nett. Kann man hören oder lesen, muss man aber auch nicht.

I just am not that interested in the premise and the writing style wasnt for me. Picked it up because my sister loved them.
Oh fark gimme that Tark. Listen, if you decide that you are going to read a book called "Assigned a Mate" I feel like you know what you are signing up for. Do you want lots of explicit descriptions of sexual activity? This book provides! Do you want a paper thing plot filled with laughably bad characters whose only motivations are to fuck or be fucked? This book provides! Do you want to be able to read it in a few breezy sittings while chuckling to yourself about the insubstantiality of it all? This book provides.
I'm not going to argue that this is some work of great literary fiction, nor am I going to argue that it is arousing on any level. What it is - all it is - is a book about a lady getting banged by one very buff alien dude. If you don't want to read that, then don't read this book. I wish that the aliens were a bit more alien. Why not have them have crab claws for feet and purple chest hair or something? The premise is "what if in the future, earth agreed to send women away for breeding on other planets?". That sounds grossly misogynistic (maybe it is) but there simply isn't enough substance to this book to get upset about anything. It's like Star Trek but the horny dial got cranked up past maximum.
There are just enough odd little touches to make this book be a grade above totally generic. The main character is a curvy doctor who was framed for a murder she didn't commit! I like to think about the world building that the author must not have. Imagine the meetings that earth had with all these other planets where they are like "Okay. You can bang our babes. But only once we make sure that our babes are a compatible match. Now everybody sign this treaty!" So dumb. Thumbs up for me.

OMG super sexy alien erotica......do I really need to say more. This may be an acquired taste but I LOVED it and can't wait to dive into the rest of the series that I can get my hands on!

Alien steam, lite bdsm/spanks. The alien guy annoyed me in the beginning but he redeemed himself later. Plot holes, but these books are not read for the titillating storyline.
