I finished this book like 2 days ago, I'm tired as frick this morning, so if I get anything wrong in this review just deal with it because at this point I don't care. Maybe I'll come back when I'm not tired or working to fix it but ... meh, don't get your hopes up.

Dark Protector was a pretty interesting mafia book. I liked the two main characters - even though the girl kept trying to leave. However, she did surprise myself and the other characters that she definitely knows how to handle herself. Of course that usually means something bad happened in her past, aka Brandon, and I felt bad for her to go through that manipulation but at the same time I'm glad that she did because it lead her to become the person that she is now.

Con, the mafia guy and I also can't remember is first name.. conrad maybe? I don't know - I need coffee pretty badly right now. Well, at first he was kind of strange because he was low key stalking this girl (Charlie?). Then he became pretty much swoon-worthy because of how protective he was of her. However, I did not enjoy the little teasing smut moments. I totally get that he wanted her to trust him before things went any further.. but he's sort of the reason that she is wanted dead and everything. Then the fact that he sort of kidnapped her was the cherry on top.

Charlie, again, was pretty likable. I don't really have much to complain about her. The chemistry between these two was good. Then the epilogue was kind of predictable but still likable. I feel like it might of mindfucked me a little bit because there was some hint of confusion - but I'll blame that on me being dead ass tired.

Overall, I really did enjoy this book. Sorry for this half-ass written review.

I was a little worried about reading this book. I didn't enjoy the author's last story, so I thought that maybe her "darker" reads weren't for me. However, I just finished another book with a fucked up H and was eager for more. This wasn't quite there, but it worked for me.

I'll be interested to see what she writes in the future.

Enjoyable stalker/Mafia thriller/romance

This was written so well that I could see every scene play out in my head like a movie. It started off with action straight away, and you get hooked.
My only gripe to begin with was that I felt Charlie was too accepting too quickly. However, as the story continues, you get her background, and I guess it kinda makes sense why. Con was great, very Alpha. I loved Nate and his banter with everyone, including himself! Looking forward to reading his book!

Anytime a Celia Aaron book hits my Kindle I drop everything to read it. Dark Protector was no different except for the fact that I had to wait a few hours before I could devour it. Devour is exactly what I did in one sitting. I loved it.

It was action packed, violent, sexy and oh so filthy. Contains a hot as all get out hero and a heroine who is so much more than what met the eye. I loved her and her quirky kinks.

I also loved Nate and hope he gets his story told. He was funny, ridiculous and sexy all at the same time.

I'd definitely recommend this book not only to lovers of mafia themed romance but also to those who just love a good action packed story.

I've loved Celia Aaron's work ever since I read the Acquisition series, so I was pretty excited for Dark Protector! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
Conrad Mercer is a hit man for the mob.Dark, silent and scary, he hasn't had much to live for since he has spent all his life either training or doing this. But there is one thing in his life that brings him peace. And that is looking at Charlie.

Charlie is a florist and she knows that there is someone out in the car that watches her everyday, but it doesn't scare her.She actually feels protected. She's had a painful past and just wished to lay low and be content.
Con never wanted to bring Charlie into his life, but now that she is in danger because of him, he will do anything to protect her. Will they be able to make it out alive and together?

I loved Charlie's character. She wasn't a simpering heroine.Despite what she's been through she is strong and resilient. She stands up for herself and gives Con a push when needed.
Con was a mix of danger, sweetness, protectiveness and all alpha male.He had me swooning in no time.I loved learning more about his past. The best part was how they brought ot the good in each other!
The chemistry between Con and Charlie was hands down amazing, but I just wish we had more page time developing their relationship. With the plot's fast pace, it sometimes felt like they moved too fast, despite their instant connection.
The action and the sprinkle of suspense just added to the story! And Nate was such a hoot!Loved him!
You should really give this one a try if you're looking for something fast-paced,sexy and with a dash of danger!

Reading a string of books that I liked, but were “just okay” left me on the verge of a major reading slump. With this being my first book by this author, I was nervous going into it. Would this just be one more book that sent me spiraling even further? I am ecstatic to report that I was worried for naught! Thank you, Celia Aaron for pulling me off the edge! Gripping, suspenseful, and action packed, Dark Protector was just what I needed!

Conrad “Con” Mercer spent most of his life as little more than a trained killing machine. Numb, lethal, and loyal to the almighty dollar, he took men’s lives without batting an eye. The organ inside his chest’s only function was to keep him alive. Love wasn’t a word he really understood until he laid eyes on Charlie.

Charlie, a florist with a devastating past, had been coasting through life without really living. When she notices the mysterious man watching her from outside her shop window, she quickly goes from feeling frightened and alarmed to curious and protected. She knows she should probably be freaking out that this guy is basically stalking her, but she’s not. If anything, she wishes he would come in and introduce himself. Maybe then she would get to finally see the face that is always hidden by the shadows. Charlie eventually gets her chance, but not exactly the way she was hoping for.

Hanging out around Charlie turns out to be bad idea when the wrong men take notice. Conrad and Charlie’s worlds collide in a way neither wanted, but after one bloody night, there is no going back. Conrad has followed orders his entire life. He pledges allegiance to the highest bidder. What happens when the man with the money wants Charlie dead? Will he turn his back on his entire way of life to save a woman he has never even spoken to?

I loved this book so much that I don’t even think I can do it justice with my review. The writing is impeccable. Celia Aaron has a true way with words. The dialogue and banter between the characters is some of the best that I have ever read. The story is exciting and entertaining with nonstop action and suspense from start to finish.

However, my favorite thing about this book had to be the characters. They were flawed, complex, and totally endearing. I didn’t want to say good bye to them, so I was very appreciative of the epilogues the author included at the end of the story. Charlie, Conrad, and Nate (more about him later) are phenomenal characters that I think everyone should get the chance to meet.

Charlie may have found herself in a terrifying situation, but she didn’t take anything lying down. Far from a damsel in distress, she was always thinking about her next move and ready to defend herself if necessary. Her awful past relationship resulted in only one good thing….turning Charlie into a survivor. She can hunt, fish, and make a shiv from a toilet brush! How could Conrad help falling in love with her? Strong, sassy, and a good shot, Charlie proved over and over again that she was one hell of a woman!

Hitman or not, Conrad Mercer is a badass force to be reckoned with that I fell in love with from the very first chapter! The man is ruthless, hot, protective, and according to Charlie, has a tongue of legend! Those that aren’t fans of push and pull will love this one. Conrad never wavers when it comes to Charlie. Once he falls for her, he never get scared and runs away. It makes sense when you think about it, because nothing intimidates him. Did I mention he is a total badass? I loved the way he was willing to lay down his life for Charlie without a moment’s hesitation. His life meant nothing without her in it.

My review wouldn’t be complete without talking about the man that completely stole my heart, Nate. Nate is Con’s friend and devoted side kick possessing the uncanny ability to lighten any dark moment with just a few choice words. His quick wit and light hearted attitude put a smile on my face every time he entered the scene. Loyal, sweet, and absolutely hilarious, Nate is one of the most amazing secondary characters I have ever encountered! In other words, back off ladies! He’s mine! If the author doesn’t give him his own book, it will be a tragedy of epic proportions. I will beg if need be. I’m not too proud. I need more Nate in my life!

If I love this book so much, why didn’t I give it a full five stars? One word. Instalove. The good news is that it didn’t interfere with my enjoyment as much as it usually would. To be honest, the story was so awesome I almost forgave it completely.

Overall, Dark Protector is a fantastic story that is perfectly paced, captivating, and hot! I enjoyed it so much I will be reading everything this author has ever written or will write in the future. If you are a fan of romantic suspense or just romance in general, then I recommend this one to you!

*P.S. This would make a great movie. Just sayin.*
