definitely more interesting than the original series. Cardan is the most complex character and i like that the focus is on him in this story. What i missed were the clever language of the trilogy. Also Holly Blacks writing style is not really my thing: feels to bland for this fantasy world.
In general, I don't like short story collections. There is never enough meat. This was different though. I enjoyed all of it. It just added to the lore that is Cardan from Folk of Air.
it was a cruel yet beautiful metaphor for cardan's emotional complexity, using his past and relationships to project his vulnerability, ambition, power... and his stone heart 😭
