A beautiful young adult novel that I’d describe as melancholy. I think about how I was in high school and college and how lost you already feel during that age. Then how hard it is to experience such grief while everything in your life is already changing. I think Nina LaCour does a great job of capturing all of those feelings of pushing people away, drawing them in, and just feeling everything so strongly.

There's such a gentle quietness to this novel; it draws you in. Little happens - and yet so much happens - and the simple and beautiful way the story of Marin and her grief is told is both heartbreaking and uplifting.

This is the kind of book I would have devoured in high school. I felt very seen and held especially in the final chapters. Left me with a weird feeling and was at times pretty slow paced, but other than that, a pretty gentle YA read.

A book about grief and the ways that we learn that the people we loved aren’t always who we thought they were. A tough read that was slow to start but ended beautifully.

I read a review that is 100% what i felt like with this book:
"In some ways you spend the entire length of the book, hoping but not sure what you’re hoping for. Whatever it is, you only finish with half of what you hoped for"

Not much else to add. Beautiful story about grief.
