it’s beautiful and heartbreaking and it was like some parts and quotes i have highlighted i’ve never related to them so much and it’s weird to know there was someone who wrote what i felt.
marin is this complicated character that you don’t know how to feel about but you want her to feel okay again and then the twist and everything i wasn’t expecting it I love you! stomach dropped and i was like oh god that no it couldn’t make sense.

Nina LaCour’s writing is so beautiful and immersive, I feel like I’m actually living Marin’s life. I’m a huge sucker for books like that as well. Ones which goes into detail on how the people are feeling in everyday activities.

We are okay is just a snapshot of Marin’s life but we feel like there’s so much more that we can imply. I’ve read somewhere that a story is merely 10% of a character’s life but the author has to know the other 90% of it to write it well and she has definitely done so.

It’s hard to write a story so full of depth and longing and have the word ‘loneliness’ be repeated so much but yet be good but this is without a doubt a fantastic book. Multiple moments I felt so overwhelmed with emotions and she did this in just over 200 pages. Incredible.

This book was wonderful. The language in this book is easy to understand, yet beautiful. The characters are well developed, and they feel real. It is a great depiction of grief and depression. I will be recommending this to everyone I know.

I won't say this was a comfortable read, but the story was beautiful. I loved how LaCour focused so deeply on the character relationships with a deep complexity that didn't just aim for a 'happy ending'. There was definitely a poignancy about it that felt like a realistic portrayal of grief.
