Dick is one of my favorite characters and i love him in this book so much!! I love his bond with Damian, even though there only them both. I love how everyone is bonding and making a team together. Can't wait for the next one!!

Fun filler, mind fluff. I don't like Damian and Max together, too rushed. Will this story actually go anywhere? Probably not. At least not anytime soon.

Why does everyone else get a backstory set up, but one half of my little 12-year-old-self’s OTP and his little brother get a filler episode????

Ugggghh. Alright, setting aside that little disappointment, let’s look at this for what it is. Love me some Dick Grayson, of course. His vibes are impeccable, even if his age is a little weird here (Tim? Jason?). At this point, I’m convinced Kami Garcia has only read the spark notes of the original comics and/or shows. Still loved the entire dynamic he had with Damian. Though not much is given on him at all in the meat-and-potatoes department, he still feels somewhat true to his OG personality and charm. A+. Damian also feels true to his OG self, although again, the age thing is throwing me for a little loop.

The romance continues to be extremely cheesy, but this book at least tried to tackle fleshing out relationships and making their little found-family dynamic feel a bit more real. I appreciated that. Other than that and “training” their abilities, however, absolutely nothing happens in this entire book. No plot to speak of. Slade tracks them, they track Slade a little bit, they track the H.I.V.E., and then they move out when Slade starts to close in on them. That’s about it. I very much appreciate relationship building, like I said, but I would have appreciated just a little bit more plot advancement with it.

That being said, my baby girl and shining star, Kory has been hinted throughout this entire series and she’s finally got her book coming next. I cannot wait. If they do anything to screw up her story (we don’t speak of Lobdell in this house) I will riot.
