This was a very good read and darker than the first book which, I did not think was possible. The relationships in the book between the main character and the people around her and how it made her grow as a person were really good to see. I am definitely ready for book 3!

I am in shock... 

Still unsure how I feel about Rin. She's still quite immature and reckless which is a little hard to get behind. But if nothing else she is ruthless in defense of her friends. Very interested to see how this story will end in the third book.

JEEEEEESUS CHRIST. Devastating is the only word for it. Considering that I didn’t totally love Rin in the first book, I was surprised by how much I liked her here. Most of the sad shit happened to everyone around her but I did really start to root for her and I’m invested now. I did have my doubts about

democracy being possible or even likely under the Dragon Lord. But I wasn’t expecting Nezha to turn on them!!! I really thought him and Rin would get together and I was READY for it. I’m so sad about the rest of the Cike. They didn’t deserve what they got but man, what a devoted bunch of weirdos. Rin had better make it worth it.

I’m ready to be hurt again, gonna start the last book tonight lol

I can respect the author for what she does, but this just got too dark for me personally. Also had some things spoiled for the next book that, while unfortunate, made it clear this was not for me.
