Though I had my gripes about her writing style, the world building and real life political/historical/philosophical thought was marvellously placed in a fantasy world. Always super engaging

I completely understand why the reader wouldn’t like or appreciate Rin. This book really gets into how a person can be changed during repeated trauma.

“They’re not the strongest force in the world…I am.”

I was so satisfied with the ending of this book. I found myself a little bored at the beginning, especially because Rin’s motivations in the war just felt so empty? But now I can feel her fire and passion through the pages.

Overall another amazing part in this series!

You got me at the end Rebecca!! I love a cyclical ending. Okay I’m ready for burning god and the end of mr. too superior to embrace the power of a god???? nehza let’s go 🐦‍🔥🔥

I really want to know more about Chaghan and what’s up with his family/their powers/their war.

The main character Rin definitely didn’t develop more as a character but really seemed to dig her heels further into the trope of being a single minded solider. It was also quite disappointing that the main villain of the first book was humanized more and left alive by the end of it when the main drive of this book was getting revenge and ending the villain. Now the surrounding characters Cenka, Kitay, Nezha and even the Cike had more development in this book but it was also another let down that they didn’t have enough of the spotlight and for a good chunk of this book the Cike were all but an after thought which does add the the main characters overall flat lack of development.
