There it is.... This is not an easy read. It's gut-wrenching and heartbreaking.

This is the first "war" book that I have, not only finished, but truly enjoyed. It was a great book!

Love this. Starts a little slow and not a huge fan of the ending, but the meat of this book is gripping, brutal, and grabs you by the nads. Would love to see this as a Band of Brothers-like HBO miniseries one day.

Fantastic novel. The author does a really excellent job of putting the reader into the jungle. I had no idea how horrible Vietnam was on the soldiers, both physically and mentally. Imagine being 18 years old, covered in leeches and open sores, malnourished and sleep deprived, bracketed by racial tension and incompetent leadership. You have no idea why you're even in the jungle. Oh and now people are throwing grenades at you.

This book was awesome. It ranks up there in the top 10 books I have ever read. It is just one of those that sticks with you. At times I had to put it down, it was just too much at once and other times I couldn't stop turning the pages. I laughed at a few things and I cried too. The ending really got me and yet at the same time left me curious how some things turned out. This isn't the type of book I usually read but I'm glad I read this one.
