2.5
This started out with promise but pretty quickly declined. I do think younger kids will enjoy reading this around Christmas, especially with the addition of the dinosaur. But, I really wasn't a big fan of the writing or the massive lack of plot.
(Also, Santa was kinda rude and that really took me out of the story)
TW: Use of fatphobic language like "fatty"

This is beyond cute! More like a 4.5 stars read ☺️
Read- February 2019
- Original Rating- 5 Stars
1st Re-Read July 2019- Read for the Book Junkie Trials (Crimson Peaks)
- I just need this book to be turned into a movie. ASAP.
2nd Re-Read- April 2020
- HOLY COW I JUST FREAKING LOVE THIS BOOK. I listened to the musical edition of the audiobook this time around and it made me love this story even more which I didn't think was possible. Tom has been my favourite person since I was a child and hearing him perform songs for his own book was a magical experience.
3rd Re-Read- December 2020
- I can't believe that this is my fourth re-read of this book and it's the first time I've actually read it at Christmas time. Still adored it which doesn't surprise me.

Wonderful
I don't know why I read this book in August but I did! Doing this didn't feel wrong somehow, as it was still wonderfully magical! Yet, remarkably human too...

This was the cutest book ever. It was so sweet and heartwarming
I am in such a Christmassy mood after finishing this. It is such a cute and magical, feel-good story and I really enjoyed it! Plus the Christmasaurus is so cute, I want one.
I love the Dinosaur that Poops series by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter so when I saw a full length novel about a dinosaur and the fact that it was linked to Christmas I was sold. The Christmasaurus is about a young boy called William Trundle who doesn’t have the easiest of lives and how his belief in Christmas makes magical things happen.
I don’t want to give too much away because this is a wonderfully magical story that I think you should all read and get as much joy out of it that I did. Yes, it is a story for children, yes it is about a dinosaur and yes it does feature Christmas very heavily but it is a glorious read.
Tom Fletcher has written a story which has a diverse cast of characters, great plot twists and a big dollop of magic doused on top.
I guarantee that when you read The Christmasaurus (and I really think you should) that you will end up feeling the Christmas spirit.
The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher is available now.

Dinosaur-loving William Trundle is having a tough time at school so he writes to Santa. A magical story about hopes, dreams and friendship that kept us entertained throughout and left us smiling. I read this with Daniel (8) and Joshua (6) as our Christmas bedtime story, after my Year 5's recommended it. It's easy to read, often using super-long sentences and lots of description, so would be suited to lower key stage 2. However, even Joshua was enthralled by the plot and enjoyed guessing what was going to happen next, as well as retelling the funny parts of the story to anyone who would listen. I loved that the main character uses a wheelchair and that this is addressed throughout, points for diversity. Five stars from both myself and the boys.
