This is truly a wonderful sweet romance book. Abigail and Gavin enter into a marriage of convenience that grows into love. The characters overcome shipwrecks, gossip, death, several obstacles and sabotages to light house. But together Gavin and Abigail were able to work together to accomplish the goal of keeping the lighthouse light and providing safety to ships during storms. The story was a rollercoaster of emotions. One minute I was laughing and the next crying! It was such an inspiring book to read. I would definitely recommend it.
I received a digital ARC from the author in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

This was a great book. I loved the parts about the lighthouse. How they took care of it, and what was required of the lighthouse keeper(s). I also loved the relationship between Abigail and Gavin. And how their relationship developed; how their love grew. I enjoyed the change that happened in Abigail, and the person she was despite her past.
❤️❤️❤️

I’m a big Poldark fan and so when this historical romance set in Cornwall came out years ago I put it on my TBR but you know life happens and new books come out and sometimes you forget about all those others books on your Goodreads shelf! So when I saw @swoony_reads_society picked it for their August buddy read I quickly signed up! And I’m so glad I did! I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading the others in the series!

I loved Gavin’s character he was so loyal and supportive and willing to do anything for Abigail. He wasn’t afraid of hard work and he saw Abigail for the amazing hard working lady she truly was! I would definitely recommend this book!

This is a beautiful story where she rescues him, and then he rescues her. I loved seeing behind the workings of an original lighthouse and how much depth of responsibility there was there. Abigail’s story and strength touched me deeply and I think Gavin is one of the swooniest cinnamon roll heroes ever.

Things I Loved:
-Their meet cute
-Gavin’s persistence and patience
-“Have you already forgotten that I live here?”
-“But if there was one thing she knew about him, it was his insatiable desire to help others. Of course, there were worse traits for a husband to have.”
-The bird
-“Mrs. Stedman had never liked her. The things she had said about Abigail behind Uncle Ellis’s back—complaints against her gaudy red hair and her ugly, freckled complexion—had scarred Abigail’s childhood. But she was no longer a child. Those memories were, indeed, etched permanently within her mind, but she did not have to add any more of their writing onto her soul.”
-“She felt respected, as if Gavin believed her to be of some great value and wished her to dress as such.”
-All the teasing
-Mrs. Summerfield
-“Fishing”
-The cot 😂
-“You must simply believe that you are more,” he whispered. “Because to me…you are everything.”
-The whole ending ♥️

This was an emotional, many layered read with a beautiful HEA. Once again, this was a new-to-me author that has been hanging out on my TBR and made its way to the top because of the Swoony Reads Society!

Trigger Warning: Loss of parental figures/close family members, past/present trauma from addiction, death of crew members

I absolutely adored Abigail and Gavin! First she rescues the Captain from a ship wreck (the best “meet cute”), then he rescues her and the lighthouse with a marriage of convenience. Gavin is such a gentleman and willing to help with anything. I loved their story getting to know and love each other. Abigail has secrets and a past she wants to keep hidden. There is a little violence and a mystery to be solved. They grow and learn to trust each other.

“Once she reached the countryside, she finally slowed her pace. The moon lit the pathway before her, but she did not need its waning light to know the way home. She only needed to follow the sound of the sea. It called to her, beckoned her forward to a place she could find peace and freedom. That was where she belonged. At Golowduyn, beneath its light, near the waves and upon the cliff sides.”

Give me all of the Cornwall books if they are going to be as good as this one. I actually binged this series in 1 week in anticipation of book 4 coming out—and I’m here to tell you they are all worth reading! I meant to spread the out, but once I started, I couldn’t stop.

This is such a sweet love story. I loved the added suspense of secrets being kept, revenge, a marriage of convenience and some of the best side characters I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking to read a book with one of the most support male main characters—this is your book! All of these books can be read as a stand alone but I HIGHLY recommend them all.
