Recently I was around some tweens and overheard two of them playing together. They had this really elaborate imagination game that they were playing, and it was fun to overhear. And it also made me a little sad because that's the kind of friendships I longed for as a kid, but I never really had anyone, and I got a tad made fun of for trying to play imagine games like that.

So that's what this book also reminded me of, and it's sweet and cute, but also a little bittersweet for me.

Delicious! Reminded me of how we used to play in our neighborhood.

My kids listened to the audio book from the library. It's a simple story but they loved the pretend magic that made Roxaboxen the children's town.

Roxaboxen! I'd forgotten all about it. It's a book about playing pretend, and made up places only children can appreciate, and having to leave it all behind as you grow up.

Kids are creative and it's important not to forget that. This books exemplifies the pure imaginations we often forget we had at one point.
