Every character is obnoxious, nothing interesting actually happens. The fmc is supposed to be a bad ass but complains and whines about everything. No progression to the actual plot and story is happening.
Audiobook narrated by Stella Bloom & Anthony Palmini
The worldbuilding in Quicksilver pulled me in right away. I loved learning about Saeris, the wards, and the subtle alchemy that shapes this realm. Sarais herself is an intriguing main character, someone who grew up believing fae were nothing more than fairy tales, all while secretly hiding her own power. Watching her stumble into the fae world and grapple with its truths was both entertaining and frustrating.
The cast of characters shines: Carrion, cocky yet magnetic, keeps things lively, but my favorite has to be Kingfisher. Broody, morally gray, and layered with secrets. He embodies everything I adore in this genre. Even the magical animals were delightful, and I enjoyed Sarais’ fierce determination to protect them.
The audiobook narration was a real highlight. Stella Bloom and Anthony Palmini delivered excellent performances, but I have to say, I could listen to Palmini read anything. His ability to differentiate voices brought so much depth to the story.
The reason this wasn’t a full five-star read is simply that Sarais’ constant questioning wore me down. Even after she knew she was in another world and faced undeniable proof, she circled back again and again with doubt, particularly about Kingfisher. While it does shift later, the repetition grew a bit exhausting.
Still, the twists, layered politics, and character dynamics made this a strong start to the series. I’m excited to see where book two takes the story.

Not really for me but had some good parts. Was not hooked on it though.

I really enjoyed Quicksilver! The banter between Saeris and Kingfisher was so good lol I found myself smiling and giggling a bunch of times through that. I was not expecting the twist toward the end of the book with the big bad!
For me the pacing of the book was a little bit touch and go. At first I felt like it was dragging a little in the beginning and then picked-up slightly with the first location shift. Once we shifted locations again it drug a little bit however through the last half to a third I felt like there was a dramatic surge forward. I definitely have to re-read a few bits as I feel like I might have missed a couple things.
I thought the character development was pretty good! The only one that feels a little off to me is the MMC Kingfisher. He went from very abrasive with everyone including the FMC to not a little faster than I would have expected. This is where I feel like I need to re-read something as I am wondering if I missed a little bit during my 3am reading lol.
While I am not gnawing on my bars demanding the next book (which is the case with some others), I am looking forward to it and will be picking it up! Overall this is a "Read" from me!
