Genuinely intriguing novel, and it was so nice to see Smiley and everyone else once again.
Nick Harkaway has done both his father and Smiley proud. A solid and intricate tale with everything you'd expect from a George Smiley story.

Impressive writing, but once I realized that if I’d left it on the ferry I wouldn’t be the slightest but put out, I realized it’s a DNF and moved on to something else.

Unmistakably studio-of-le-Carré overall more Spy WCIFTC than TTSP or SP in that it addresses a small-scale plot. It wanders a little close to pastiche, and really could do with more circus characters than the cannon delivers. For all that, it’s a good read, and sufficiently le Carré-like that I need to read it again to get the full plot
