I'm very late to this one, but it lives up to the hype.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Normally I don’t view a film before reading a book but in this case I did and thought the two complimented each other nicely. This book discusses many important topics and themes: racial inequity, police brutality, unequal access to quality education, etc. It would be a wonderful addition to high school curriculums. The reason I gave the book 4 instead of 5 stars is I felt the writing was needlessly specific about unimportant topics at times so there were moments the plot dragged in my reading experience. Overall, would highly recommend!

I loved everything about this book!!

It is the perfect example of why #ownvoices books are so important and why we need more of them published!!!
