The beautiful art and magical setting and quest-adventure story have me saying *lalala I can't hear you* to my brain during the arguably rapey bits. Much to my surprise, I'm very much looking forward to reading book 2.

forgot to say that I finished this, but I don't even know what to really think about this one. It wasn't bad, but at the same time I just... didn't really know what was happening half the time? I mean, I'll likely continue, but uh yeah, wow. Also, was the
Spoilertentacle sex
necessary.

the only reason that I'm giving it 1 star i because it somewhat did have a good storyline going for itself but the fact that the mage/sorcerer/whatever you want to call him begin to have sex with a non-verbal demon (in other words can't consent) thats possessing the at the time unconscious prince (ie, getting r@ped) practically since day one only to better his own magic (like tf?) it rubbed me the wrong way. the fact that the prince doesn't know whats going on....and the little human turning rabbit is basically an accomplice since it doesn't say anything to the prince even though it sees the mage and knows that the prince is being sexually assaulted in his sleep.... and the whole thing about asking him to have sex with it too??? (in human form ofc)
but hey its all okay cus the mage is actually falling in love with the victim and the demon is being more submissive and pliant so its definitely ok!
and lets not take into account that the prince might be in fact "straight" even kinda says so when again the rabbit asked to have sex with him (also for the betterment of its magic) (its a yaoi obviously by the end or half of it he ain't straight no more)
the mage is a dick too. like this boi is getting used left to right...
I will say that the story had potential but i just don't feel comfortable going further...

Its hard to find a yaoi that makes you honestly want to read it for the plot aside from 'when do they do the do again?'. This manages it with a fantasy setting, magic, wonderful supporting characters, mindblowing art, and just generally interesting situations.

The relationship does come across as rather dub-con to be honest, and that is a bit of a concern with the trope floating around of 'straight man blackmailed/seduced/etc by gay man and is conflicted' which can never be a healthy relationship irl. All the same it is handled rather nicely and, again, the art and world is gorgeous.

The artwork is amazing and beautiful, the plot is fun to read and keeps me wanting to read on to the next volume. Funny at bits, action-y in all the right areas, and sexy with beautifully drawn art. What's there to not like? If you like fantasy yaoi, I'm sure you'd like this.
