Equal parts harrowing and delightful, a strange, moving and entertaining read with massive themes explored through a very strange plot. It was an unexpected mash up of a lot of genres I like, and it took me a little while to get into it but I am glad I stuck with it, by 100 pages I was invested in the absurdity which would life you up and then smash you down to harsh reality, and kept being surprised at where it went next.

Incredibly creative mix of sci fi, occult, and queer narrative. Uplifting and honest story that evoked so much pride in the characters’ resilience and brilliance

This book was weird and beautiful but also a bit confusingly written for me personally. I didn’t always know who was speaking or thinking because of how regularly it switched between characters even in a section that started from one characters perspective. Which on one hand, I like and think is cool, but on the other hand, made my reading experience a touch more difficult. But ultimately worth it and I don’t think I’d ask for it to be changed in anyway.

I love the setup of this book. It loses coherency in a fun way - all about the vibes. As someone who was also trained classically on violin, I loved the violin subplot the most. However, in most of the book, I felt like the characters were all written into little boxes. There are several side characters who I don’t care for at all. I wish more time had been spent developing fewer characters. Additionally, the ending was all right, but undercut by how vibe-y the book was. The interplay between demons and space wasn’t clear, and the consequences of certain actions were swept under the carpet. Overall, the book was fun, but fell short of my expectations.
