Entertaining book by an entertaining writer...the guy that brought us the Princess Bride (the book is almost as good as the movie). Three stars because sometimes it was really irritating, especially the sample script he included (the one with the character named Climber). It's terrible.

Best thing learned from this book? Hitchcock gets way too much credit as seen in a dissection of the screenplay of North By Northwest. The immortal crop dusting scene is in the original screenplay by Ernest Lehman, literally shot for shot. Point being, directors more often than not are big ass credit hogs. Stupid auteur theory...

A highly entertaining and informative volume for anyone who has even the vaguest of interests about the movie industry, and how to write for them.

Tão bom quanto o primeiro. Vale pelas fofocas de Hollywood e pelos lições de como construir histórias e roteiros e tudo mais. E pelo jeito delicioso de escrever do falecido. R.I.P.

Had some good bits on story telling and how movies got from idea to screen. Suspect it would have been more meaningful if I'd seen more than two of the movies he dissects.

Entertaining for a while but it's a little too Hollywood-insider-ish. His tone is just so knowing, it gets irritating.
