This book starts out hard. From the very first pages, I felt like I had walked straight into tragedy. I had to close the book more than once and take breaks — reading the words of a mother who didn’t want her children, or worse, wanted to harm them, was gut-wrenching. Especially as a mother myself, those chapters were almost unbearable.

And then came the question that unraveled me: what if it was all a lie? Was Verity a true murderer, or simply a manipulative, brilliant writer of her own twisted story?

Either way, this book had my heart racing and my brain spiraling. I turned the last page full of questions I don’t think will ever leave me. Colleen Hoover made me realize — I don’t know if I can handle another thriller from her. Could’ve been 5 stars if it didn’t leave me with questions…

3.5 ⭐️ This book left me SHOOK. Colleen Hoover always writes dramatic novels, but this was a whole other level. There were definitely some plot lines that don’t make sense and seem like thrown in, but man, it had me hooked. Thanks goodness for babies taking long naps
