This book works well as a short adventure read. I really enjoyed the banter between Siris and Isa, and the few lore tidbits we get. That being said, it does feel rather surface level as while it's clear that the character and world have depth, it's never really explored.
My first time reading this, I had no idea who Sanderson is and I think that worked well for me because this doesn't feel to the same caliber as his other works. Specifically, I feel like this novella shows that β€” at the time β€” Sanderson seems to be able to write epic fantasies and epic fantasies only as in the novella he establishes the setting, but in my opinion, it doesn't feel fleshed out.
Overall: a good, short adventure story that while it isn't some grand piece of literature, it does what it sets out to do rather well. Just please read the Wikipedia summary for Infinity Blade 2 before picking up the second novella β€” trust me, you'll be confused otherwise.
