A solid 5/5 read coming from a VERY picky thriller reader.

I haven't read a good twisty thriller like this since maybe 'Gone Girl' by queen Gillian Flynn, that's how good this was. Lately, all psychological thrillers follow the same story structure and I can usually guess what the ending is about 30% through BUT NOT THIS ONE. I was jaw-dropped until the very last page.

Highly recommend! I devoured this one in one day.

So many twists and turns, at times felt unbelievable.

I felt like I could see the twists far ahead but we're just out of grasp to know what they actually were. Fun read! I'm wondering if Simon was a cancer sign lol

I have been seeing Look Closer on TikTok for so long and I finally decided to just read it and im sooo happy that I did. I’m honestly going to just jump straight to it, the plot twist in this book was so crazy, the whole time Simon and Vicky were playing everyone including us, the readers. They made this whole plan to get rid of the people that hurt them, Lauren, who stole all the simons dads money and left them almost penniless, and christian (aka nick) who was supplying vickys sister with drugs and left her for dead (she ended up overdosing).

They pretended to be married and Simon behaved as if he and vicky were married so that it could seem like he was having an affair with lauren through the burner phones that had and used, whole time, lauren and simon never spoke and it was vicky walking to laurens house to get the signals. Also vicky convinced christian that she needed to stay married to simon for 10 years so she could have access to the money in his trust, christian was helping her with it (and was planning to scam her out of the money) and when she brought up the lauren problem and he volunteered to kill her. Vicky and Simon set up evidence so that it would look like it was lauren and christian having the affair and he killed her (which he did), then he killed himself (vicky actually killed him).

The only annoying part of this book was jane, the police officer getting on simons case and actually knowing that he did it but didnt have enough proof. To give some backstory, simon drugged his bully and did it in a way that wouldn't get him in trouble (his bully used to steal him gatorade so he put a drug in it) and also simon killed his father, he caught his dad cheating on his mom a second time because his dad was drinking champagne with a woman. Simon kept the bottle and when lauren came back into town he used the champagne bottle to kill his dad so that there would be a possibility of her doing it (and her dna ended up being on the bottle so it worked out just fine).

My favorite part of the book was that simon and vicky ended up getting away with it. Simon liquidated his trust, gave 1 million to vicky and gave the rest to charities and vicky moved away to live with her nieces. Such an amazing book omg.

Really enjoyed this. My only knit pick is not fully getting Vicki's story.
