Anything by C. S. Lewis should be mandatory reading for all, but especially the very part of this book. It was like he was prophesying the current situation in 2020 America. A great book that left me convicted about how I allow Satan to distract me from my duty as a Christ follower.

I approached this book with wary curiosity. Having grown up in a very religious household, immersed in Christian culture for the formative years of my life, I worried it might be preachy, self-righteous, or scolding towards readers who have chosen to forego religion and become atheists, agnostics, or nones. Instead, I found The Screwtape Letters to be entertaining and thought-provoking. I wished I had read it as a book club or buddy read! Being an agnostic, I didn’t agree with all the intended messages, but that’s what would have made it perfect for in-depth discussions with a fellow reader! So I did enjoy it, and having it narrated satirically by a demon gave me “Good Omens” vibes.

Not surprisingly this was a great and truly thought provoking read. Just how close Srewtapes toast on democracy, has become reality is scary.

Every letter had me reflecting on the ways the enemy tries to steer me away from God - through cycles of temptation, doubt, fear... C.S. Lewis delivered such thoughtful insight through humor and wit.

A fantastic read. A heavy read. I think it would have been a 5 ⭐️ read had I not listened to the audiobook version. Definitely a physical copy read!
