For being so short, this book packs a serious punch. I’ve always found a slightly queer tinge to it with the theme of found family, and searching for one’s place and identity. Both being scorned for it, and proud of it.

Entertaining. Funny that we (my husband and I) read this right after reading Gone With the Wind, and then the book shows up in this story. It was a very easy read compared to GWTW, of course, but it was a touching and well-written story.

When I originally read this book I wasn’t a huge fan but after sitting with it for a while and seeing the broadway adaptation I have come to really love the story. Though it will never be a favorite of mine I really do enjoy it.
