Brilliant passages. Great highlighting of process. A gem of a case study.

I found this book fascinating, it is an easy read and it is really interesting to see Dibs progress after people assumed the worst about his condition, that he was untreatable.
I think my main take away is that in therapy often it is not steering or treating in a direct way, but giving people the space and opportunity to treat themselves. You facilitate, show understanding and help as it is asked for.

I read this for a class. Axline is wonderfully observational and this little volume made me cry several times. Dibs reminds us all that with love and belief the work gets done. My first job was working in Special Ed, particularly with a student on the autism spectrum. His family was also very wealthy like Dib's family and there were so many subtle similarities. I think that made the book hit home even more for me. It really is a great story and guide on non-directive play therapy. Highly recommend.
