What in the wild hell. I did not expect the voices turn of the Rubik’s cube here. I was expecting a thriller, without.... the rest.... I’m glad it was a quick read, I’ll say.

parts of this book are really thought provoking, but i think the author is trying to do too much with the text to make it affective in all the themes, which ultimately hurts the entire thing as a whole.

It bums me out that this isn't rated higher. I think this book is the victim of its own description, which promises a sort of literary thriller, when what it really is is something much weirder—a book using a thriller premise as the occasion for uneasy disquisitions on topics of phychology, philosophy, religion, and language. A tone of dread pervades the whole thing. Hints of apocalypse and supernatural phenomena abound. Several times as I read I thought of Rivka Galchen's ATMOSPHERIC DISTURBANCES and J.M. Ledgard's SUBMERGENCE. If you like those books you might like this. Beyond that, you're best knowing as little as possible going into this one.

I didn't find it that good. I honestly couldn't even finish it. It was not compelling enough for me.

I may have missed a couple things due to listening to this one, but I still really enjoyed it. The suspense has a calm and dry, yet constant feel that I found appealing in this thriller mystery about a woman, her mind and the man who infiltrates it.

Read this book because of its inclusion in this year's Tournament of Books. This was a bit of a mixed bag for me. There are some thriller elements and some supernatural parts, but in the end although each part was well written and engaging, they did not seem to come together in a cohesive fashion. Will be interested in how this fares in the tournament and what comments are offered by other readers. For me it's a 3 star rating.

Um, just, well, no. I don't usually pick up or try to win ARCs unless I'm really intrigued or know the author. Someone must have made a good pitch on this one because it isn't like anything I'd pick up. And it isn't good. Too many inexplicables to name.

If Ned and his controllers could enter and influence people’s thoughts, why didn’t they just do that and not horse around with state senate races?
