Doesn't hold up well to Butcher & Blackbird, in my opinion. For an enemies to lovers trope, it felt like they developed feelings for each other quicker than expected and the relationship went from 0 to 100 real quick. There are some hard to ignore plot holes, especially with the climax (no pun intended) of the book.

Not totally sure how Lachlan put together that Abe was staying in a building across from them. You're also telling me Lachlan doesn't use his resources to see if any of his customers give him bad vibes? Lark didn't tell Lachlan about Abe being at the show?

“We exchange a silent conversation with no more than a glance, and I know Lark understands that she can say whatever she wants. Whatever she feels. She can be whoever she wants to be. I will take her in any version of herself she’s willing to give.”

Leather and Lark is the second book in The Ruinous Love Trilogy, the follow-up to Butcher and Blackbird (which I absolutely loved). This story follow’s Lark (Sloane’s long time best friend) and Lachlan (Rowan’s brother).

I listened to part of this on audio and read part as an e-book. I was equally impressed with the audiobook quality as I was with B&B.

I was really excited to read this. I loved Butcher and Blackbird and was so intrigued to continue the story based on the cliffhanger. Unfortunately it fell flat for me. I really like Lark and Lachlan as characters, but together they were not giving me the chemistry I hoped for. For the life of me I could not get invested into the storyline and it really dragged for me. I don’t feel like anything really happened until the 80-90% point and then the ending felt really rushed and low-stakes. Overall, it felt very repetitive to Butcher and Blackbird.

That said, I do love the premise and am interested to read the third in the series to see if it picks back up again!
