A delightful romp (pun intended). Fun cliterature, if you will.
My only complaint is the bit of degradation. Not personally my cup of tea, but I don't hold it against the author for the choice.

Middle books in trilogies are always hard. Both characters independently were really strong and interesting (and while they work well together) some of the angst between them felt a bit excessive and for the violence of them being serial killers the tip-toeing around and not speaking their truths to each other, their friends, and family was frustrating.
