Originally, I was pissed. I was very far into the book not realizing at first it is a slow burn. I was waiting for the smut that never came, pun intended, of course! I felt like I was being edged the whole time up until a few chapters towards the end. So much, “will they, won’t they?” Then they did and it was fantastic! I love the descriptions, even after the fact how Lark remembers the events of the night before and squirms in her chair. Still smut, but shown as a memory as opposed to not upfront active sex was pretty cool.
I was pining for a Lachlan of my own the whole time! The way he’s so sexually aggressive but emotionally takes care of Lark is anyone’s dream! Butcher and Blackbird is still my favorite of the duo soon-to-be trio, but there is definitely no hate for leather and lark!
I will say for those who stuck it out and read the bonus chapter, WTF?! I don’t know if I saw Lachlan as a take a dildo in the ass kind of guy, but it threw me. I’m glad it was shown in a way that was sexually positive and consensual, of course . But, I thought that dynamic was pretty one-sided with Lachlan being the more dominant and Lark wanting to be submissive. Seeing Lark in a dominant roll and to this extreme out of the blue felt odd. I got that she is growing as a person; maybe this was meant to show her moving on from someone that is used and has to put on a mask all the time to being someone in control?? Not my favorite, the dragon onesie definitely was a better bonus Iol.

Really loved the audiobook. Laughed so many times!
It’s murder, it’s glitter, it’s marriage in convenience and enemies to lovers. It’s touch her/him and die. I really loved it.
And those Irish accents during the audiobook.. it took me to a wholeeeeeee other planet. ‘Cause girl!!!!! Let me tell you, I kicked, giggled, froze and didn’t knew what to do with myself during the
